Healed Through Jesus

God still heals, but many Christians in the church today don't believe this.   There are many reasons why they don't, but one of the main reasons I have found, is because someone they loved and prayed for didn't get healed and they have to find a 'reason why'.

Healing is really a part of my heart - I myself have walked through many physical things, and it has given me a compassion for those who are hurting... a deep love for them... and a desire to see them walk in the fullness of what Christ Jesus paid for for them.

If we turn to the Bible - in Luke 13:10-13 we see that Jesus had great compassion when he saw a lady who was bent over for 18 years.  She was unable to stand straight and He felt for her.  Out of His compassion for this dear woman - she was healed.   (One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, He saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit.  She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight.  When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said "Dear Woman, you are healed of your sickness!"  Then He touched her, and instantly she could stand straight.  How she praised God!   Luke 13:10-13)

Do you know that Jesus sees you, hears you, and has compassion on you too?   Psalm 55:16-18 says "But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.  Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me."

I have a friend who was healed just recently and she shares her testimony below:

I had been in pain from my fingers up into my armpit for 3 weeks or so.  I hadn’t told anyone what I was going through.  My mother who lives with me, had went to lay down; so I was alone sitting at my computer.    It was Friday, September 22, 2017 in the afternoon.   As I was sitting there my pain was getting worse.   Of course, the devil kept telling me…. ‘see you have swollen lymph nodes’…. and I kept rebuking him.

Sitting at my computer, I curled up into a fetal position, lightly making pain noises. I was so deep in pain, that somehow, which I can't explain…I was in the presence of the Lord. I could not see His face, or the full extent of His body, but He had His arms straight out. I saw in His arms me at the age of one or two laying in His arms. He brought His arms in, like a curled position, and drew me into His chest. He didn't say anything; nor did I. I continued to lightly make pain cries. I felt His presence, and His love that was so overwhelming and I felt contentment. I noticed the pain leaving my left arm…from my fingertips to my armpit. I started to just whisper the words “Thank You, Thank You” at least 7 times, and then I was back to myself. God has been so good to me.  (testimony told & written by: Debbie Partin, Chambersburg, PA)

There are a few things in Debbie's testimony that are important to take notice of:

  1. She didn't tell anyone what she was going through.   Don't take this point the wrong way - we are not meant to walk through life alone.  But by her keeping this to herself - she was not glorifying the devil.   She was not dwelling on the problem.
  2. When the devil spoke lies to her - she rebuked him.    Debbie didn't let herself listen to the lies the devil wanted to say.  He wanted to tell her that she had a swollen lymph node.  She kept telling him NO!
  3. She was in the presence of the Lord and the love He had for her was overwhelming.   He loves us and has compassion on us.
  4. She praised the Lord for what He did. She gave Him all the praise and all the glory!

One of the first steps I have found in seeking healing from the Lord Jesus is to realize that he has compassion on us, that he loves us with a deep compassionate love.  No father wants to see his child hurt, in pain, or sick.    What makes us as Christians think that our Father is any different?   On the contrary our Father is full of love and compassion.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36

We also must realize that Jesus is the one who comes to give life and life more abundantly!   Satan is the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.  (John 10:10).     Many years ago I was sick with an incurable disease.  I struggled with this disease for 10 long, debilitating years.   I had to come to realize that that disease wasn't put on me by my loving Father who wanted to teach me a lesson.  On the contrary, it was put on me by the devil who wanted to steal, kill, and destroy my life.  Realizing this was the first step in the process of me healing.

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed. Isaiah 53:5

If you or a loved one is facing a health problem right now - realize that Jesus is not the one who put sickness on you.    That came from the enemy of your soul.    Jesus is the one who will help you.    He paid for your healing with the stripes that He bore on His back at the whipping post.   He paid a dear costly price - but YOU were on his mind.    He did it for YOU!    Thank Him for this today, ask for healing, and wait expectantly.
