Sowing Seeds

READ:  Luke 8:5-8   A sower went out to sow his seed.  And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.  Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.  But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.

Jesus was talking to his disciples in a parable.  The parable is explained for us later on in the chapter in verses 11-15.

The seed = Word of God and the Word is spoken to different people (wayside, rock, thorns, and good ground represent the people).

What type of heart are you?   Have you received the gospel and accepted Jesus as your Savior? Do you live for Jesus? Are you telling others about Him & making disciples?
  • by the wayside = the person who hears the Word of God but the devil comes and steals it away from their hearts.
  • rock - the person who hears the word and receive it with joy; but they believe for a little while and then fall away when times of temptation come.
  • thorns - the person who hears the word but they go out in the world and are taken in by the cares of the world, riches, and pleasures of life.
  • good ground - the person who hears the word, keeps it, has a good heart, and bears fruit (makes disciples).

In this parable - God's Word is the same.  The gospel is shared every time. But there are four types of hearts that the gospel is falling upon.

Whenever we  share the Word of God with someone - we don't know the heart of that individual.  All of you reading this devotion - I do not know your heart.  I do not know if you have a relationship with the Father.  I don't even know if you read the Word of God for yourselves or not.    I just give you the Word each day.   We hope that our seed falls on "good ground"  - we even pray so.  But we have no control of this.    It is Holy Spirit that will work upon that person.   It is our job to speak the Word and to pray for them.  However, remember - the seed is powerful!    Keep planting and God will bring the increase.

Do you have someone that you are planting into right now?  Someone that you are praying for?   Don't Stop, Don't Quit, and certainly Don't Give Up!

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

It is the same with My Word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. Isaiah 55:11

Think and ponder on these two scriptures today & Keep on praying and believing for your loved ones heart.
