Jesus Saves And Heals

READ:  Luke 5:18-20   Behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him (Jesus).  And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.    When He (Jesus) saw their faith, He said to them, "Man your sins are forgiven you".    vs. 24, 25 ... He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."  Immediately he rose up before them and took up what he had been lying on and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

This is an amazing passage of scripture that really points to several things.    We see men who are bringing their friend to Jesus.  These men knew that Jesus had the power to heal their friend.  They showed desperation because they were not going to let a crowd keep them from bringing their friend to Jesus.        Is there someone that you know needs a healing or needs salvation?   Are you desperate to bring them to Jesus?

Did you know? The Greek word “sozo” used in the New Testament has several meanings -saved, whole, healed.

This miracle was taking place in front of the scribes and the Pharisees.   When Jesus made the statement, "Man your sins are forgiven you" - they accused him of blasphemy.   They said that no one can forgive sins except for God himself.  (They did not recognize Jesus as the Son of God).   Jesus knew their thoughts.  Jesus knows your thoughts - do you know that?  Jesus' reply was "is it easier to say, 'your sins are forgiven you' or to say, 'rise up and walk'?   Jesus gave them a very tricky answer here.  You can "see" with your own eyes when someone is healed, but you can't physically "see" when someone's sins are forgiven them.  Jesus was saying, 'I can do it all - it's just as easy for Me to do both!!!    Jesus has the power to save you AND to heal you!

We see the man rising up, taking up the mat that he was lying on and going home - praising and glorifying God.    When prayers are answered - are you glorifying your Healer and your King?

As Christians our Father has the power to SAVE YOUR SOUL and to HEAL YOUR BODY.  He is worthy of ALL praise.   Give Him praise throughout the day today!
