READ: Isaiah 40:6-8 All flesh is grass, and all it's loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever.
I love flowers. I get so excited for the spring time when it's time to plant them, and make my hanging baskets and planters. I love to cut them and bring them into my kitchen table. Sometimes when winter comes I can't help but buy a nice bouquet at the store - just to make my house feel beautiful again! Even though I might splurge once in a while and buy myself some - I know that in a week or so - they will be faded and time to throw them away. How sad when they wither and die.
We are told in Isaiah, chapter 40 that we (people) are like the flowers and grass. We are beautiful for a season, but we too wither and die. Our time comes to an end. We are here for but a season on this earth. Even though our life comes to an end here.... we are spiritual beings and our spirit lives on forever, and ever, and ever, and ever. We will live in one of two places... heaven or hell. Heaven is for those who trust Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. If you don't have Jesus as your savior - no matter how 'good' you live in this life or how pretty you are blooming - you will spend eternity in the fires of hell. There is ONE WAY to get to heaven. Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me," John 14.6. Some believe there is many paths to heaven but there is one and that is through accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (Please contact me below if you would like to have assurance that you will be in heaven one day).
Besides our spirits living forever and ever - Isaiah also tells us that another thing will stand always.... that is the WORD OF GOD.
The Word of God is SHARP, QUICK, POWERFUL and ETERNAL. Are you spending time in His Word each day? The Word is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work, 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Do you want to bloom while you are here? You need the Word of God to be of utmost importance in your life for this to happen. Spend time today - reading the Word of God.
