Let Your Light Shine

READ:   Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

When my boys were small I used to dress them up in costumes for halloween.   I never let them dress in scary costumes, but I did let them put something innocent on and march in the parade or get candy mostly from people we knew.   We also went to our churches fall festival (I think it's great when churches have an alternative so Christian families don't feel 'left out' during this time).

Now that my 'boys' are older we enjoy trips to the orchard to get apples and fall goodies!    We still enjoy carving pumpkins, but truth be told, I think we enjoy the roasting of the pumpkin seeds and eating them the best!     I still put a candle in the pumpkin face to light it up.

Lighting up the pumpkin reminds me of the verse in Matthew 5:16 (Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven).

Being a light means  showing Jesus to this dark world.   Loving people as Christ loved.  Considering other peoples needs.  Being patient and encouraging.   Living in a way that shows others that "God is Good".

No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house, Luke 8:16

Spend today (and everyday) letting the light of Jesus Christ that is inside of you - shine out to the world.   Show others how GOOD your God truly is!
