Give Your Burdens To The Lord

READ:  Psalm 55:22 Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you.  He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

We live in a troublesome world.  Everywhere that we turn - we can see people struggling.  It could be a financial struggle or even struggling to raise a family on todays wages and escalating bills.  It could be that doctors report that is scary.    It could be a family burden or troubled relationship.  It could be that unrelenting feeling of loneliness, abandonment and fear.  It could be a rebellious teen or child, they were raised right - but where did things go so wrong?    In just talking to people out and about, I hear all kinds of stories and I see the pain in others eyes.  It's there - burdens are there and they are too heavy to carry.

Remember when the Roman soldiers beat Jesus and made him carry his cross?   It was too much for him after such torture - and he needed help.   A man by the name of Simon from Cyrene was recruited.

Simon carried Jesus cross
Jesus carried Simon’s sins
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you

Sometimes we have to carry things in life that are just too hard for us.   There is a saying that people use all the time and it's just not biblical:    God will not give you more than you can bear.  This is taken from 1 Corinthians 10:13 but it is not talking about burdens or problems - it's talking about "temptations" (The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.)

Sometimes we do face things that are just too much for us... burdens that are too heavy for us.   Just like Jesus had help from Simon of Cyrene to carry his cross - we need help to.  Who can we turn to?   Yes - others can help, but sometimes others let us down.  -- The Bible tells us to "cast our cares on the Lord".    He is strong enough to handle our hardest circumstances.  Nothing is to heavy or hard for him.  Give your burdens over to Him today, trust Him to strengthen you and make a way.
