Be Careful What You See

READ:  Psalm 101:3 I will set no worthless thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not fasten its grip on me.

Sometimes I wish that I lived in the "olden days" - like the days before modern television, computers, and entertainment came out.  Do I have any people who are with me in that?  My reason is - we live in a world today where we are inundated with things that are really ungodly.

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.  But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23

The Bible tells us that the lamp of the body is the eye -- whatever enters in through your eye - can enter into your spirit.  As Christians, it is imperative to our spiritual growth that we constantly be guarding what we are "looking at".

At our home we have always tried to guard what we watch on TV (and what we listen to).  More than a few times we have turned a movie off when it was not wholesome, and we have walked out of musicals and plays at intermissions never to return.

Some may think this to be going to far - but if you give satan a foot - I guarantee you he will take a mile.    Opening yourself up to the ungodly media/entertainment is opening yourself to satan to come into your life and mess with your body, home, or family.

As parents it is important that you guard your children and their precious eyes.  I don't mean to say you hide things from them - after all they live in this world and need to know how to handle life.    However, guarding what they watch is very important and instead give them wholesome alternatives.

Today - think about what you are looking at, listening to and letting into your spirit.  Choose to feed your spirit "good, wholesome, Godly things" and watch you and your family grow closer to the Lord and stronger spiritually.
