READ: Mark 4:35-41 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
In this scripture we read about how Jesus had the power to calm the wind and waves when a 'fierce' storm came up and the disciples and Jesus were on a boat in the water!!! Jesus did not panic during the storm - as a matter of fact - He was asleep!
When we face the storms of life, as a child of God, we can KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that the storm is NOT too much for Jesus. It may seem too much for us.... but not for Him - He never panics.
The eye of the storm OR center of it is actually the focus of the storm. It is the point of which the entire storm will rotate. But what is amazing is that during very strong storms, the eye has the lowest surface pressures and is characterized by light winds and clear skies surrounded on all sides by a towering eyewall. Just on the other side of the eyewall is the destructing part of the storm, but the CENTER or EYE remains the calmest point in the storm.
During times of extreme winds (problems), if Jesus is kept at the center of your life (eye of the storm) - there you will experience the calmness and the peace that only He can give.
