READ: 1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
When I think of something that is strong and immovable - my mind often goes to a big tree that is rooted so deeply that even when strong storm winds shake it and bend it, it still stands.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that as followers we are to be STRONG and IMMOVABLE. But how do we become strong and immovable? I mean the storm winds of life can blow pretty hard, can't they? Sometimes they seem to absolutely be stronger than we are.
The tree is able to withstand the winds when it's roots are deep. For many many years the roots of the tree were growing deeper and wider. Only because of this deep root system is the tree able to withstands the strong winds that come against it.
It is much the same way in life. You will only be able to withstand the storms of life if you have deep roots... in JESUS. To grow them - it is a must to spend time in the Word of God - reading the Bible is a priority because through His Word you will find HIM and draw closer to Him.
Just like the tree can't see a storm approaching and say "roots grow now!" - you also can't be IN a storm and decide that you need to be stronger in Jesus. You need to do that now - while the forecast is sunny and mild. Then when the storms approach, your roots will be deep in Him and you will be STRONG and UNMOVABLE.
Dear God - help me to make time each day to be alone with you and reading Your Holy Word. Help Your Word to enter into my spirit and begin to build my faith and make me strong. I want to be STRONG and UNMOVABLE for You. Amen
