READ: Luke 1:39-45 A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. At the sound of Mary's greeting, Elizabeth's child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, "God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. Why am I so honored , that the mother of my Lord should visit me? When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy. You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said."
Mary trusted and believed that what the angel Gabriel said to her was true. She believed that God would overshadow her and she would become pregnant with the promised Messiah.
I can think of another woman who was blessed because she believed. Genesis 21:1 says, "The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised". She too became pregnant (although not by a virgin conception), by a miracle because Sarah and her husband Abraham were of very old age.
Has God made a promise to you? If you have a Bible in your home - you hold a promise box that is full of the promises of God to YOU.
Here are some to think about:
Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 43:2 - When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 54:10 - Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Deuteronomy 31:8 - The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Mark 11:24 - Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
You are blessed when you believe the promises of God. Read them and meditate on them today. He is faithful to be trusted!
Dear Lord - thank you for being a God who holds true to Your Word. Thank you for caring about me in the big things and even in the little ones. Thank you that I can trust you and know that you will never let me down. Amen.
