READ: Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The scripture reading for today is known as the "Great Commission". Jesus was instructing his disciples on their duty to go out and make disciples of all nations.... That is not just an instruction to the disciples but also to us as believers in Christ.
Not everyone is called to be a missionary to a foreign land, although that may be the call for some... maybe even you reading this. But everyone of you are called to bring the Jesus that is inside of you to this lost and dying world. That neighbor that doesn't know Christ - maybe you are called to go talk to them, take them a pie or cookies. That co-worker who is complaining all the time - maybe you are called to show them the joy of Christ inside of you. That person you know who is full of hate - maybe you are the one to love them. That person in the store who looks 'different' than you - maybe you are to smile and talk to them. That sick person, struggling to believe that God still heals today, maybe you are to go and minister to them in prayer.
I believe that each one of us, everyday, is still here on earth because God has a "great commission" for us to do. I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to write this devotion - today - because someone is reading this - today - and God is tugging at their heart (He's been tugging at it). There is something you are to do for someone .... today is the day ..... you know who you are.... now do it!
Dear Lord Jesus, help me to have the strength and courage to do exactly what you are calling me to do. Make the situations ahead of me today just right for me to do your will. Help me to be 'you' to this world. Amen.
