READ: Matthew 10:29-31 What is the price of two sparrows - one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Civilla Martin so beautifully penned the song, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" while visiting an ill, bedridden friend in 1904. Although her friend was discouraged and sick, she still maintained that her Heavenly Father was watching over each little sparrow and would certainly watch over her. Her continual belief in her Father inspired Civilla and she penned the words as a beautiful poem which was later sent to a composer to write the lovely music which made the song so popular.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
Do you know that God cares about you so much your hairs on your head are numbered by him? I don't know about you but even I don't know how many hairs are on my head - but God does (because he knows me, loves me, and cares for me).
In Bible days - sparrows were often used as offerings that we given by those who were of low status or poor. Yet God had his eyes on these birds - this means that He CERTAINLY has His Eye and His Care on YOU!! Isn't that reassuring and wonderful to know we are watched for and cared about THIS MUCH? <3
