READ: John 15:16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
I remember being a young girl in the playground during elementary school - we would crowd around and two captains would pick teams for kickball. I was lucky enough to be fairly athletic so I was chosen early "for a girl". I always felt so badly for the less coordinated kids who were chosen at the end and I felt REALLY REALLY bad for the last kid who was left and the leftover team would reluctantly have to take them.
I wanted to remind you Words Of Faith readers that as a child of the King - you have been chosen. In this scripture above Jesus was talking to his disciples and telling them that HE CHOSE THEM. Do you know that you have been chosen by God too? You are here on earth, right now, for a very specific purpose. What is that purpose you ask? It is to produce lasting fruit. The kind of fruit that LOVES PEOPLE and LEADS THOSE YOU LOVE TO CHRIST. How do we do such a daunting task? The answer lies a few verses earlier in verse 7: "If you remain in me (Jesus) and my words will remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!" See apart from the Father we can do nothing! But by remaining in Him - all things are possible.
Are you producing fruit? If not - it is time that you get started. John 15:2 tell us, "He cuts off every branch that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."
Again - what fruit are you producing?
Dear Jesus - thank you for choosing me. Please place inside of me a deep love and passion for other people. I want to love them right into your Kingdom. I want to see them become fruit bearing disciples for you. Please show me others through your eyes and give me your heart. Today, I want to start producing fruit for you. I love you Jesus!
