READ: 1 John 3:21-22 Dear friends, if we don't feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
Do you suffer from guilt over past sin? The beautiful thing about Jesus is when he died for us - he died for ALL SIN. That means the sins that you committed in the past - the ones you will commit today (because no one is perfect) - and the sins that you may fall to in the future. Does this mean we are to just keep on sinning - NO!!!! Hebrews 10:26 tells us, "Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins". So we are not to DELIBERATELY SIN - but let's face it sometimes we fail to do what is right in God's eyes and that is sinning too. But Jesus died for us - for ALL sin - for all time.
He doesn't want us to live in guilt - because someone who is guilty cannot come boldly to the throne of God.
I was in Hobby Lobby today and I watched two little children asking their mom for PEZ Candy. You could tell that she was struggling with them cooperating in a store that obviously doesn't have anything of interest to kids. She willingly rewarded them with a pack of Pez that she told them they were to split.
I thought about this in relation to my heavenly father. Sometimes I don't do what he asks or I don't cooperate with him when he has a plan for me. I may even complain just like those little kids were through the store. But I know my Father and He loves me - just like that mom loves her children. I can boldly approach him with confidence in what I need, knowing in my heart and soul that I am His and He is mine and He wants to reward me.
For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
