Is Your Lamp Filled?

READ:   Matthew 25: 1- 13   Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamp and went to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.  The five who were foolish didn't take enough olive oil for their lamps, but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight they were roused by the shout, 'Look, the bridegroom is coming!  Come out and meet him!'

All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps.  Then the five foolish ones asked the others, 'Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.'

But the others replied, 'We don't have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.'

But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came.  Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.  Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, 'Lord!  Lord! Open the door for us!'

But he called back, 'Believe me, I don't know you!'

"So you, too, must keep watch!   For you do not know the day or hour of my return'.

In today's scripture Jesus told the parable about the 10 bridesmaids.  They were all ready for the bridegroom but five were truly read (their lamps were filled), and the other five were only going through the motions.

You can appear to be a Christian.  You may even think you are one.  You carry your Bible to church, you read it sometimes, and if asked you will say that you believe the Lord will return for his people.

 ---- BUT ----

None of these things mean that you truly KNOW HIM.   KNOWING HIM is having a R-E-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-H-I-P with Him.   If you have a relationship with Him - then you are growing in your walk with him. You don't want to do the things you did yesterday or last year when you were a baby Christian.  You have moved away from milk to drink onto eating meat.   Things that you used to do will look ungodly to you now. Things that you once desired will change.    You should be seeing these changes taking place.    You should want to live PURE - The bible says, "And all who have this eager exception (this hope) will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure,"  1 John 3:3.

Ask yourself this today.....

Do you REALLY believe that Jesus is coming

back for his church?

If your answer is YES - you will want to live a life that is pleasing to Him, avoiding sin and the things that lead you into it.  And you will be ready, lamps filled, and waiting!
