Search For Him

READ:   Deuteronomy 4:28 - 29, 31   There, in a foreign land you will worship idols made from wood and stone -- gods that neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. But from there you will search again for the LORD your God.  And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.

For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors.

Today's scripture, taken from Deuteronomy, was a stern warning or prophetic revelation of what was coming to the Israelites if they broke covenant with the LORD.     The covenant that they broke was worshipping other gods.

Exodus 20:3-5

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.

Anything that we put before the LORD GOD is actually a form of worship. It could be our phone, computer, television, friends, sports, money, job, or even family.    We may not actually bow down and worship those things, but putting those things before Him is doing just that.

The good new is in verse 29 -31.    IF you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.    The LORD JESUS is not someone to run and sulk and hide from us if we don't put him first. Instead he is that still small voice inside of you telling you  that he wants to have time with you.     He is waiting for you to search for him again, and he promises to be there.  The Word of God tells us that He is a merciful God who will not abandon you.

Today, make time to put the LORD first.  Put the phone down, turn the TV off, and spend some time with
