READ: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
I am someone who has a habit of looking in other peoples grocery carts. It's not that I want to judge them, but I love to look at what people like to eat. One day, I was behind someone who had their entire cart filled to the brim with soda -- all kinds of soda! There were a few groceries, but not one healthy item among the entire cart.
Sickness/harm can come upon us one of three ways:
Satan - inflicting us.
Self-inflicted - by our own doing.
Our scripture today reminds us that as a follower of Christ our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are not our own - we were brought with an incredible price - the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have been given the gift of life and we have ONE body to serve the Lord with. It is our responsibility to take care of that body so that it can serve Him to the best degree and longest possible time here on earth.
There is a saying that goes: "You are what you eat" and this is so true. Your body will respond to the food that you put in it - either good or bad. I do not believe that God wants us to abuse the physical bodies that he has given us to serve him with.
Today, make sure you are ingesting life and not death in the foods that you consume. And ask God to help you feed yourself clean wholesome foods.
