Growing Pains!    Do you remember having them?  I remember as my boys were in the phases of them really shooting up in height - they  would get strange aches and pains in their legs.   We knew they were only "growing pains" when they would grow 6" in height over one summers time!

We have growing pains as adults too - only we call them "TRIALS".   No one likes that word!!  We like to live on the mountaintop with no problems .... we like things to run smoothing, sail along easy in life - but that just doesn't happen forever.  We might have spells of those mountaintop highs, but that high never lasts forever.

Trials are made to grow us, stretch us, and strengthen us.    The Lord tells us in James that the one who perseveres under trials is BLESSED.   They are BLESSED because they have STOOD THE TEST.   We are told that that person WILL receive the crown of life.

How do we persevere?

  • We know that God's promises are true.    He does not lie.   Whatever you are facing, search the scriptures for God's Word on this subject and you can be sure that that scripture is FOR YOU.     It is God's promise to you.     His promises to you are YES and AMEN!!   2 Corinthians 1:20 "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."

  • We know that we can trust God.    Even when your hope seems gone or you are struggling to stay about the turbulent waves -- even then.... you can trust God.    The God that we serve is the mountain-moving God.    He can work the miraculous in your life....  2 Samuel 7:28 "Sovereign LORD, you are God!  Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised thee good things to your servant."

  • We know that our God is strong.    Honestly, you may feel weak right now, unsure, and afraid.   You may even feel as if you are drowning.   BUT God is strong.  He does not waver in the face of troubles.  He does not hide.  He is not afraid.  He is your strength.    Lean on Him for he will hold you up!      Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Jesus is your answer for persevering under trials..... Trust Him, Trust His Promises, Rely on His Strength!
