Jesus The Multiplier

READ:  Luke 9:12- 14   Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said, "Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night.  There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.   But Jesus said, "YOU FEED THEM."

"But we only have five loaves of bread and two fish", they answered.

verse 16   Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them.  Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people.   They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!

I love the story of Jesus multiplying the fish and bread to feed the 5,000 hungry men with women and children too!    It's a completely amazing miracle to be able to multiply food.  How many of us wish the food in our pantry would multiply instead of running to the grocery store?

But the part of the story that stands out to me the most is what was offered.... the five little loaves of bread and two fish.  They were the offering and because they were offered, God was able to multiply them.    Without the offering -- there would have been no multiplication of food and the people would have gone without.

Do you need a multiplication miracle today?  Maybe your finances are just not reaching to pay your bills.     If you are a believer - your God is a God who specailizes in multiplication and the way I see it, he was THE BEST math teacher around.... he taught by a miracle of an example!     However, God needed something to work with.  It's the same way with you.     If you are willing to trust Him and give Him the little bit that you do have (maybe that means tithing to the church 10% even when you think you can't), maybe it means getting a job at McDonalds (and you say but my dream job is not McDonalds - well I know but)  --- giving God a little and he can multiply it.  But giving him nothing and He can't.

Think about this today:  What is it that you are in need of?  What needs multiplied in your life?    Give a little bit to God and watch Him turn that little bit into A LOT!     He specializes in multiplication!
