READ: Luke 10: 38-42 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
I have to admit when I read this story of the two sisters that I see myself in Martha and I always felt for her. Here she was doing ALL THE WORK!!! Do you ever feel that way too.... like you do ALL THE WORK?! There was much to do - after all the LORD himself came to their village and to their home!! Martha wanted Mary corrected because she wouldn't help her. Instead of the LORD correcting Mary, he pointed out to Martha that she was anxious and troubled over many things and Mary had chosen to focus her devotion on Him.
There is quite a lesson in this for us. In todays world we rush and rush, we have goals, plans, dreams and we pursue them many times at the risk of our own health (physically & spiritually) and well-being. But our main purpose for being born was to serve our Lord and Savior. He is the reason we were born and the reason we are still on this earth.
I know that you have things to do today, but make HIM a part of what you do. Include Him in your day today. Talk to Him. Sing to Him. Pray to Him. Love Him. Give Jesus your love and devotion today. He deserves it!
