READ: Deuteronomy 6:4-6 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
Sunday we celebrate Father's Day and I am so thankful for my Father. He has been an example of God's love to our family for many years now. We are blessed to have him with us still at nearly 84-years-old.
When I think of a great "father figure" in the Bible, my mind always goes to Moses. Moses was a man born Hebrew and yet raised Egyptian. It was the plan of God to use Moses to free the Israelites from slavery to the Egyptians. Moses felt rather inadequate as we read about him going before Pharaoh over and over in an effort to get the Hebrews freed. His brother Aaron went with him as a spokesperson because of Moses studder in speech.
Yet Moses was the one who led the Isrealites out of Egypt and 'almost' to the promised land. He was the one to guide them across the Red Sea to safety, and he shared the manna from heaven as food in the wilderness. He wrote down the 10 commandments for them to follow and guided and instructed them in the ways to live. Although Moses felt inadequate for these tasks, God worked through him in mighty ways to deliver the Israelites into the land flowing with milk and honey.
What I love most about Moses is his GREAT FAITH. Even when no one else had faith, Moses seemed to stand tall and believe God. We see Moses being in such a close relationship with God that they shared intimate times as God talked directly with him.
As a father today, I know that men face a lot of pressure. There are certainly large pressures at work/career, but also pressures at home. If you feel those pressures - let Moses be your example to talk to God and trust in Him. I believe that God made men extra strong in their mentality and fortitude, but he doesn't want men to walk alone. God wants to be the supply source of power for you to walk through life STRONG. He wants to be your supply source for what looks impossible even.
Let God be your supply source today for whatever you feel inadequate for. He is a never ending supply of power and strength!
